PASCO, Wash. – In the biggest upset of the tournament, the Tacoma Titans took down the Treasure Valley Chukars 87-70 to end the Sweet 16 on Thursday night at the NWAC Men's Basketball Championship at Columbia Basin College.
The Titans (21-9) got out to an incredible start, taking a 25-2 lead through the first seven minutes. The Titans were able to force numerous Treasure Valley turnovers in the opening minutes as they never relinquished the lead. The Chukars were able to bring the deficit to as few as 11 points, but could not get within striking distance of the comeback.
Marc Eyman finished the contest with a team-high 25 points as he knocked down six three pointers in the victory. Ke Vaughn Harvey had 21 points and six rebounds while Lareel Steward finished with a double-double of 18 points and 13 boards.
The Chukars (26-4), who won the East region title with an outstanding season, struggled in the first half but settled in during the second half. However, the deficit was too large to overcome for TVCC. Kirath Makhar came off the bench to score 26 points while Tre'Von Cason had 17 points ad five steals.
The Titans move onto the Elite 8 round and will face Everett on Friday at 4 p.m. at Holden Court.
