Located on 83 acres just 10 miles north of downtown Seattle, Shoreline is situated among native evergreens with a campus full of brilliant colors during spring, summer, and fall seasons.

The women's head volleyball coach reports to the Athletic Director.  The coach supervises the volleyball program carried out under the auspices of the Students, Equity & Success division.  The volleyball season begins August 1 and ends mid-November.  Team recruitment continues throughout the year.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: 

  • Teach volleyball skills to student-athletes
  • Develop and enforce training rules 
  • Recruit within the rules and regulations of the conference 
  • Assist in transportation of teams 
  • Assist with schedule development 
  • Assist with volleyball equipment management
  • Monitor academic achievement of student-athletes
  • Market and promote the volleyball program, including fundraising
  • Prepare and process all related paperwork
  • Promote an environment supportive of the College's vision, mission, and values
  • Perform other duties assigned of a similar nature or level

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required; Master's preferred
  • Two (2) years of successful instruction/coaching in high school OR college varsity volleyball or four (4) years of participation in college volleyball

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS (if applicable):

  • Valid unrestricted Washington State driver's license
  • Clean driving record (maximum of one (1) moving violation in the last 12 months, no suspension/revocation of license for reckless driving, hit and run, leaving an accident scene, failure to appear, DUI, or other vehicle-related misdemeanor in the last 5 years)
  • Valid First Aid/CPR certification OR ability to obtain upon offer of employment
  • NWAC and Coaching Certification

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Access
  • Applicable laws, rules, ordinances, and regulations, including, but not limited to, FERPA, NWAC intercollegiate volleyball rules and regulations, and Title IX

SKILL IN:

  • Fostering a climate of equity and belonging through multicultural awareness and competence
  • Imparting excitement and enthusiasm into the coaching of student athletes
  • Adapting to a variety of teaching situations
  • Effectively communicating (oral and written) with individuals in a multicultural environment at all levels inside and/or outside of the College
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships at all organizational levels
  • Time management and multi-tasking; developing/managing departmental activities
  • Handling difficult and sensitive situations, using sound independent judgment within policy and legal guidelines; interpreting applicable laws/regulations/policies
  • Successfully navigating task completion with frequent interruptions
