Keister's 89th Minute Goal Gives Hawks 1-0 Victory Over Lower Columbia in NWAC Semis

TUKWILA, Wash. - In a game that looked to be destined for overtime, Columbia Basin's Angelina Keister had different plans as she scored the game-winning goal in the 89th minute to lead the Hawks over Lower Columbia 1-0 in the semifinals of the NWAC Women's Soccer Championship on Friday at Starfire Stadium.

Keister heroically headered the ball over the LCC keeper from just inside the 18-foot box as it trickled slowly to the next and just got past the line before a Red Devil defender could save it. The goal broke a scoreless tie as both teams played sound defense throughout the match.

Both goalkeepers were on their A-game as Angelina's sister, Jayauna Keister, recorded six saves in the shutout. LCC's Jade Goulding was strong throughout, making seven saves. Emma Haertling led all players with seven shots for CBC.

The Hawks had the edge overall for the game in shots, leading 16-8, while LCC had the advantage in corner kicks, 3-2.

Lower Columbia finishes an outstanding season after winning the West Region title, a 13-6-2 record and a trip to the NWAC Final Four.

The Hawks will await the winner of the final game of the night between their East Region rival Spokane and North Region champions Peninsula. The finals will take place on Sunday at 4:30 p.m.
