Lane Shoots Way to 3rd-Straight Championship Game with 80-63 Win Over Peninsula

PASCO, Wash. - The Lane Titans continued their undefeated season and advanced to their third-straight NWAC Final, defeating Peninsula 80-63 in the Final Four of the 2025 NWAC Women's Basketball Championship, presented by Golf Universe, on Saturday at Columbia Basin College.

The Titans will play one final game on Sunday for the NWAC title as they go for their third-straight. The team continued its winning streak to 45 games with a 32-0 record this season.

Lane's offense could not be contained in this game as the team shot 51.7 percent from the floor and 60 percent from beyond the arc on 12-for-20 shooting.

The Titans were led by freshman Maitlin Young who had a Lane career-high of 23 points, knocking down 8-of-16 field goals and 5-for-9 from beyond the arc. Micah Wicks contributed significantly with 18 points and led the team in assists with seven, while also securing nine rebounds. Lillee Duffin dominated the boards, grabbing 15 rebounds, and added 11 points to her stat line. Emma McDonald scored 13 points, and was perfect on her three-point attempts going 3-for-3. Kya Kanoho also had 11 points and led the team with two steals.

In the first quarter, the Titans established an early lead by a score of 22-16. Lane's offensive efforts were led by Wicks, who contributed multiple key baskets, including a 3-pointer at the 7:12 mark and a layup at 2:51. Duffin added to Lane's scoring with several successful layups, one assisted by Wicks at 4:39. Peninsula's Alexa Mackey and Ciera Tugade Agasiva each scored crucial layups to keep the score close after the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the Titans outscored the Pirates 17-10, extending late in the half. Young had a 3-pointer just before halftime to extend Lane's lead to 13 points 39-26 at halftime. The Titans continued their run into the third quarter, going on a 16-0 run mid-way through the third to lead 48-26. The Pirates cut the deficit down to 16 late in the third quarter but could get no closer as the Titans commanded the fourth quarter.

Tugade Agasiva led the Pirates with 14 points, making 6 of 14 field goal attempts, including one 3-pointer. Mackey was the team's top scorer with 15 points, shooting 7 of 15 from the field, while also adding five rebounds and two blocks. Alecsis Smith delivered a strong performance with 15 points and eight boards, shooting an efficient 7 of 12 from the field. Jelissa Julmist had a team high nine boards to go with her six points.

The Titans move onto the final on Sunday and will take on East Region Champions Walla Walla at 2 p.m. at Holden Court.
