Warriors Set Tournament Defensive Record in 63-29 Victory over Centralia

PASCO, Wash. - The Walla Walla Warriors used a suffocating defensive effort to defeat Centralia 63-29 in game seven of the 2025 Women's Basketball Championship on Thursday at Columbia Basin College.

The Warriors set a new tournament record with least amount of points allowed in a game. The Warriors held the Trailblazers to 29 points on 17.2 percent shooting for game, while allowing just three free throws. Walla Walla is back in the Elite 8 round after reaching the Final Four last season.

Addy Laible led the Warriors with an impressive performance, recording 22 rebounds and scoring 12 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field. Brielle Magnuson was the top scorer for the team, contributing 22 points while also securing seven rebounds. She made 10 of her 23 field goal attempts. Hadley Fraas made a notable impact on defense, leading the team with three steals and adding eight points.

Walla Walla never trailed in the game as they led the Trailblazers 14-5 at the end of the first quarter. WWCC extended its lead significantly in the second quarter, outscoring Centralia 19-10 to secure a 33-15 advantage by halftime.

In the third quarter, WWCC continued its domination by outscoring Centralia 18-3. The Warriors extended their lead to as much as 33 points in the quarter. The closed out the game in the fourth quarter, keeping the Blazers under 30 points for the contest.

Kate Carpenter led the Trailblazers with 11 points, including three 3-pointers, to go with a game-high five blocks. Ella Baumgartner was effective on the boards with eight total rebounds, adding 11 points and two blocks to her stat line.

The Warriors will next play South No. 3 seed Clackamas in the Elite 8 round on Friday at 4 p.m. The game will be a rematch of their 2024 first round game in which the Warriors won.
