PASCO, Wash. – The Edmonds Tritons led from start to finish, defeating the Pierce Raiders 67-52 in the Sweet 16 of the NWAC Women's Basketball Championship, presented by Sun Pacific Energy, on Saturday at Columbia Basin College.
The Tritons (19-7) played great defense with 15 steals, forcing 28 turnovers by the Raiders (12-15). Edmonds also limited them to 35.8 percent shooting and 12.5 percent from beyond the arc.
Keira Slippern and Jada Walters each had 16 points to lead the Tritons. Walters also had six rebounds and five steals, doing so in just 22 minutes. Slippern played all 40 minutes for the Tritons, adding three steals of her own. Kyana Brucelas had 10 points and eight boards.
For the Raiders, Keshara Romain led the team with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Abuok Ageng added 15 points, shooting 6-for-8 from the floor.
The Tritons move onto the NWAC Elite 8 where they will take on defending champions Lane on Sunday at 4 p.m. with a spot in the Final 4 on the line.
