PASCO, Wash. – The Peninsula Pirates narrowly edged Linn-Benton 79-76 to advance to the quarterfinals of the NWAC Women's Basketball Championship, presented by Sun Pacific Energy, on Thursday at Columbia Basin College
The #1-seeded Pirates (22-4, 12-2 North) got another standout performance by region MVP Ituau Tuisaula, who finished with 22 points and 14 rebounds, including 10 offensive boards. Chasity Selden added 17 points while Tati Kamae finished with nine points and nine rebounds.
The Pirates had a 43-30 rebounding advantage and made seven three pointers while holding the Roadrunners to 2-for-13 from beyond the arc.
The #4-seeded Roadrunners (21-8, 11-5 South) had four players reach double-digit scoring led by Brooklynn Hankwitz with 17 points. Jayden Ray had 14 points and Madison Dutkiewicz had 13 points. Kathleen Hale pulled down 14 rebounds.
The Pirates move onto the quarterfinals to face Walla Walla on Friday at 2 p.m.
