Highline Women, Bellevue Men Claim NWAC Tennis Titles

WENATCHEE, Wash. – The Highline College women's tennis team and the Bellevue College men's tennis team took home the NWAC Championship titles for their respective sides on Sunday at the Wenatchee Racquet & Athletic Club.

In the team format, Highline went 3-0 on the weekend, defeating Treasure Valley 9-0 and Bellevue 7-2 on Saturday before securing their first-ever team title with an 8-1 win over Spokane.

Highline's Mia Rosa won the women's No. 1 singles title as she went undefeated in the tournament. Rosa also paired up with teammate Celeste Parker to win the women's No. 1 doubles championship. Bellevue took second place on the women's side.

The men continued with the individual scoring format, with Bellevue taking home the team title with 97 points. The Bulldogs won four of the singles brackets and the No. 1 doubles title. In an extremely close finish, Treasure Valley took second with 96 points. The Chukars earned first place points from the No. 6 singles and No. 2 & 3 doubles pairings while taking second in the No. 1, 2, 4 and 5 singles.

Dario Ristovski for Bellevue was the winner in the No. 1 singles, earning the singles title. He partnered with teammate Tyler Gettman to win the No. 1 doubles spot for the Bulldogs as well.

Gettman won the No. 2 singles bracket, Spokane's Joren Hooper won the No. 3 spot, Bellevue's Alistair Jones and Tyeer Houser won the fourth and fifth spot, respectively.

Highline head coach Laura Rosa and Bellevue head coach Micah Perron were named Co-Coaches of the Year on the women's side. Spokane's John Gant was selected the Men's Coach of the Year. Treasure Valley's Marco Ramirez and Bellevue's Adeline Bakken each received the Wally Heidenson Sportsmanship awards.
