North Idaho Claims 5th-Straight NWAC Men’s Golf Title

YAKIMA, Wash. – The North Idaho men's golf team won its fifth-straight title in convincing fashion on Monday at the NWAC Golf Championships at Apple Tree Golf Course.
The Cardinals won by 13 strokes, finishing with a team score of 589. They used an impressive round one score of 291 to jump out ahead by 13 strokes on Sunday, keeping pace with second place Spokane to shoot 298 on Monday. The Sasquatch took second place at 26-over par, followed by Bellevue at +34, Southwestern Oregon at +38 and Skagit Valley at +78.
North Idaho's Josh McCartain won medalist honors for the tournament, finishing with a two-round score of 140. McCartain was incredibly consistent, shooting 70 on both days to finish 4-under par. Columbia Basin's Clayton Whitby, competing as an individual, also had a strong tournament with a score of 143. The top-five finishers after the medalist earned All-Tournament honors.
Spokane's Cole Jaworski took third at +1, followed by SWOCC's Jacob Gold at +3 for fourth. NIC's Jarett Giles and Bellevue's Dalton Dean tied for fifth at +4.
Also helping the Cardinals win the team title was Jamen Parsons who finished 11th at +8. Caden Gambini tied for 12th at 9-over par, Spence Matson took 16th at 10-over par and Hardy Johnson tied for 27th at +20.
