Lane Advances to Championship Monday with 4-0 Win over Spokane

LONGVIEW, Wash. – After dropping their first game of the tournament to Spokane, the Lane Titans have gone on a roll to win three in a row, capped by a 4-0 victory over the same Spokane team in an elimination game on Sunday at the NWAC Baseball Championship.

Since dropping an 8-5 game against the Sasquatch in the opening round, the Titans' pitching staff has locked in over the last three games, allowing just four runs in the three games. Nathan Marshall was outstanding on Sunday, shutting Spokane out over seven innings as he allowed just three hits and four walks with two strikeouts.

Styer Brinkley and Beau Burnett closed things out for the Titans as they kept the scoreless run going with a pair of shutout frames.

All of the Titans' offense came in the top of the fifth inning as Aiden Gebhard started the inning with a base hit, later scoring on a ground out. After a walk and a single with two outs, the Sasquatch looked to be out of the inning with just one run of damage, but an error kept the inning going and led to three more runs coming across eventually.

Gebhard and Cole Calnon led the Lane offense with two hits each. Brock Packer and Noah Juarez each had RBIs.

The Titans advance to championship Monday where they will take on either Lower Columbia or Tacoma at 12:05 p.m. If they play LCC, they will then also need to defeat Tacoma after to win the title. If they face Tacoma to start, they will need to defeat the Titans twice.

Spokane finishes an outstanding year as East Region champions, going 32-18 overall.
