Karly Murray, Women's Soccer Offensive - Portland
Sophomore • Midfielder
Scappoose HS • Scappoose, OR
Murray helped Portland earn a postseason berth with a 4-0 victory over Clackamas on the road. Murray scored one of the teams goals from the midfield to give the Panthers a 3-0 lead just 20 minutes into the game.
"Karly has been the best player and rock of our squad for two years and helped us move up to #2 in the South Region from 4th last year," said head coach Shawn Bundy. "Karly was in the weight room countless hours in the offseason and she never shies away from taking a tackle or risking her body for our team. In addition to being the rock of our team, she has an incredible shot and has scored 5 goals this year on only 11 shots (the best shooting percentage of the top 25 goal scorers in the NWAC), including one this week to help us lock up a home playoff game for a team with only 4 sophomores. She is super deserving of winning this award and it will help her with her aspirations of playing D1 soccer next year."
