SPOTLIGHT: Lyndzie Filla, Centralia, Volleyball, Freshman
Lyndzie is a student-athlete representative on the NWAC Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Committee.
Q. 1 - Why did you choose your current college?
I chose Centralia because I seemed drawn to it, I went on a visit for volleyball and just really connected with the coaches, people, and community.
Q. 2 - When did you start playing this sport and how has your experience been getting to play at this level?
I started playing volleyball for Centralia College in August of 2024. I'm so incredibly grateful to be able to play at this level, it has not only helped me grow as a player, but a person as well. I wouldn't change it for the world.
Q. 3 - What is your favorite part about playing at this level?
My favorite part about playing at this level is the competition.
Q. 4 - Do you consider yourself a leader? If so, describe that about yourself either on or off the team.
I consider myself a leader on and off the team. I'm always including people in events and taking a high role in everything I do.
Q. 5 - Who is your greatest influence?
My greatest influence is my Coach Ceanna, she is such an inspiring strong woman. I aspire to be like her one day because she always does whatever she can to help someone and she is confident in what she does.
Q. 6 - What advice do you have for incoming student-athletes?
Some advice for incoming athletes would be to have fun while you can. Make friends and memories from the sport because you only can be there for so long.
Q. 7 - What is one challenge or obstacle that you have had to overcome in order to get where you are today?
A challenge I had to overcome would be learning time management. With sports, school, family, and work you have to learn good time management.
Q. 8 - What are your plans after you graduate?
My plans after I graduate are to continue volleyball at a 4 year college and complete my radiology degree to become and X-Ray Technician.
Q. 9 - What is something you enjoy doing outside of your athletic pursuits?
Something outside of my athletics I like doing is going to the movies with my friends. Almost every weekend we go to the movies and have a girls night to just have fun and stop stressing over school and other things.
Q. 10 - Name one fun fact about yourself.
I used to show pigs at the SWWF.
