NWAC Spring Baden Athletes of the Year

VANCOUVER, Wash. - The NWAC congratulates its eight Baden Athletes of the Year for the spring sports season. The award winners were each recognized at the 2024 NWAC Hall of Fame Banquet & Ceremony, receiving a commemorative plaque or engraved athletic equipment from their respective sport.

Jackson Stumpf  • Bellevue • Men's Tennis

Stumpf earned the Baden Men's Tennis Player of the Year award as he swept the No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles titles at the 2024 NWAC Tennis Championships. Stumpf, who won his first match on Saturday 6-3, 6-1 over Treasure Valley's Kaden Giles, did not drop a set on Sunday in his win over Spokane's Christian Torres to claim the title. In doubles, Stumpf and teammate Tyler Gettmann were perfect together, winning both matches by 8-0 scores. Stumpf helped lead Bellevue to its sixth-straight NWAC title.

Sandy Ransibrahmanakul • Spokane • Women's Tennis

Ransibrahmanakul helped lead Spokane to its first NWAC Tennis Championship since 2002 by going undefeated in both singles and doubles. In the finals, Ransibrahmanakul had an impressive match against 2023 singles champion Kinsey Lockhart of Highline, defeating her in straight sets 6-0 and 6-0. Ransibrahmanakul partnered with teammate Elsie Carsey to win their doubles match 8-2 over Lockhart and Sophia Crosby

Josh McCartain • North Idaho • Men's Golf

McCartain earned Baden Men's Golfer of the Year with the lowest average score during league tournaments. McCartain was tied with Spokane's Cole Jaworski this season with the lowest average score this season at 73.5, but McCartain averaged the number in eight league rounds this season while Jaworski did so over six rounds. The award is the second in a row for McCartain who helped North Idaho win its sixth consecutive NWAC title as he finished second overall at the NWAC Championships.

Laila Jalil • North Idaho • Women's Golf

Jalil won the Baden Women's Golfer of the Year award as she narrowly edged Centralia's Jayda Thomas by one stroke, averaging 80.1 strokes in eight league rounds this season. Jalil was strong at the NWAC Golf Championships as she took third place overall to lead the Cardinals to its second-ever NWAC title.

James Kelly • Umpqua • Men's Track & Field

Kelly earned Baden Athlete of the Year after finishing as the High Point scorer of the meet with 31.5 points at the 2024 NWAC Track & Field Championships. Kelly was the winner of the men's pole vault and a member of the champion 4x100 relay team. He also finished second in the decathlon, third in the long jump and fourth in the 110-meter hurdles to help lead Umpqua to a third-place finish.

Emma Glanzer • Spokane • Women's Track & Field

Glanzer was named Baden Athlete of the Year after finishing as the Women's High Point Athlete of the Meet as well as the Women's Field Athlete of the Meet at the 2024 NWAC Championships. Glanzer led all female competitors with 29.5 points, winning the triple jump and long jump while place third in the high jump, seventh in the 200 meters and was a member of Spokane's second place 4x100 relay team. With Glanzer leading the way, Spokane took home the women's track and field title by nearly 100 points.

Ava Carroll • Mt. Hood • Softball

Carroll was the NWAC's best hitter this season on the conference's best team, hitting an impressive .529 to lead Mt. Hood to the NWAC title this year. Carroll did so with a combination of speed and power as the Saints' leadoff hitter, hitting 14 home runs, scoring 78 runs with 58 runs batted in. She also hit 25 doubles with one triple, stole 14 bases and struck out just seven times to 18 walks. Carroll also played outstanding defense in center field that included a pair of game-changing catches in the NWAC Championship game. She was selected Tournament MVP after hitting 11-for-19 with a home run, four RBI, four runs scored, two doubles and a stolen base in the tourney.

Jeramiah Crain • Tacoma • Baseball

Crain had an outstanding year for the Titans, leading them to the West Region title. In 40 games, Crain hit .340 overall with three home runs, 47 RBI, 27 runs scored, 11 doubles and four triples. He also added 11 stolen bases and played gold-glove caliber defense at third. He had an impressive .539 slugging percentage that, along with his 47 RBI during the regular season, led the NWAC. He helped lead Tacoma to second place at the NWAC Championship.
