Spokane Women's Cross Country Finish 2 Through 5 to Claim 19th NWAC Title

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. - The Spokane Sasquatch women's cross country team won its 19th overall NWAC title on Saturday at the 2023 NWAC Championships at Chambers Creek Regional Park.

The Sasquatch finished with an impressive 22 points overall to win the title for the first time since 2018. Lane, who finished third with 102 points, had won the previous three championships.

Clark jumped up to second place with 55 points as they were led by individual champion Sydnee Boothby, who finished the race in a blazing 17:57. Boothby jumped out to an immediate lead and cruised to medalist honors as she bested the rest of the competition by over 95 seconds. The freshman also earned the NWAC Baden Athlete of the Year award for women's cross country with her finish.

Spokane's overall team strength was showcased as they had the next four finishers. Kaley Bohl led the Sasquatch in 19:32 and was followed by Camille Ussher, Emma Gray and Mary Nakamura.

Spokane also won on the men's side of the meet to give their team the meet sweep for the first time since 2015. The 19 team titles is the most in NWAC history.

Head coach Sean McLachlan was named NWAC Coach of the Year as the title is the seventh of his men's coaching career.
