Roadrunners Keep Rolling with Sweep of Skagit Valley in NWAC Quarterfinals

LAKEWOOD, Wash. - The Linn-Benton Roadrunners' quest for a third-straight NWAC title continues as they swept Skagit Valley in the quarterfinals of the NWAC Volleyball Championship on Friday evening at Pierce College.

The Roadrunners (34-0, 16-0 South) cruised to a 25-13 first-set win. They followed up with a 25-19 win in set two before Skagit Valley battled them to a 25-22 third and final set.

Grace Luttrell was nearly perfect for the match, finishing with 12 kills and no errors on 17 attacks for a .706 hitting percentage. Maddy Hellem added 11 kills and a .304 hitting percentage as LBCC was firing on all cylinders. Avery Hughes finished with 24 assists and Meah Carley posted 16. Kinsey Brelage led all players with 13 digs while Hellem added 11. Grace Boeder had five aces in the match as the Roadrunners had 10 overall.

The Cardinals (19-13, 8-4 North) put up a fight against the defending champions with their offense rolling through Tanna Kollen who had 12 kills to just one error. Hayden Claeys had 25 assists while Kollen and Morgan Hayes each had 11 digs. Emily Miller led all players with three block assists for SVC.

Linn-Benton will move onto the semifinals and play on Saturday at 5 p.m. against the winner of the final quarterfinal match between Columbia Basin and Highline.
