Lawrence Leads Bellevue to Women’s Golf Title by 1 Stroke

FINAL RESULTS

YAKIMA, Wash. – The Bellevue College women's golf team won their second-straight NWAC title in thrilling fashion by just one stroke on Monday at the NWAC Golf Championships at Apple Tree Golf Course.

The Bulldogs narrowly edged North Idaho for the championship as the two teams entered the day tied with first round scores of 249, 33-over par. Bellevue finished with a two-round score of 499, just ahead of the Cardinals' score of 500.

Bellevue was led by medalist Sarah Lawrence, who shot 149, 5-over par over the two days. After shooting 76 on day one, Lawrence improved to shoot 73 on day two, six strokes better than any other competitor. Overall, Lawrence shot 16 strokes better than the competition for the two rounds, easily winning the back-to-back individual title. Impressively, Lawrence also earned medalist at every NWAC league match this season.

North Idaho had the next two placers with Laila Jalil and Navy Wood tying for second at 21-over par. Spokane's Alyssa Devey, competing as an individual, took fourth at 22-over par, while Southwestern Oregon's Sarah Gray placed fifth at 23-over par. The top-four finishers after medalist earn All-Tournament honors. 

Also helping claim the title for Bellevue was Mayah Park, who tied for eighth overall at +32. Jamine Knudson tied for 12th at +33 and Tia Wolcott took 14th with a score of 36-over par.
