Feroah, Fely Earn Baden Basketball Player of the Year Awards

VANCOUVER, Wash. - Green River's Jaiden Feroah and Umpqua's Brooklyn Fely were each named the NWAC's Baden Basketball Players of the Year, the conference office announced on Thursday. The awards were voted on by the conference head coaches.

Feroah led the Gators to their first-ever NWAC Men's Basketball title this season and second-ever conference title, with the only other championship coming in 1969 while members of the Washington Athletic Association of Community Colleges (WAACC). Feroah had an incredible season overall as he averaged a double-double with 18.0 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. He also led the NWAC with 63 total blocks and was sixth in field goal percentage at 60.6 percent. He played in all 33 games for the Gators, averaging 32.8 minutes at the post position.

After the tournament, Feroah was also named the NWAC Tournament MVP after averaging 17.3 points per game, 13.3 rebounds, 4.0 blocks and 3.0 steals in the Gators' four tournament wins. In the overtime championship win against Tacoma, Feroah played all 45 minutes and had 17 points with a Green River record 23 rebounds. He also had five blocks and four steals defensively. Overall, Feroah led the Gators to a 27-6 season, finishing the year on a 10-game winning streak.

Brooklyn Fely • Umpqua • Women's Basketball
Fely had one of the best overall seasons in NWAC history as she ranked second with 21.5 points per game and paced the conference with 13.4 rebounds per game. She also averaged 2.8 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocks per contest.

Fely led the Riverhawks to the NWAC Championship game, where they fell to Lane in the finals. However, Fely was named First Team All-Tournament after leading all players with 120 points, averaging 30. 0 per game. She also averaged nearly 15 rebounds per game, adding 2.0 assists and 1.0 blocks per contest. In the Sweet 16, Fely broke the NWAC tournament single-game points record as she dropped 52 points in an 83-66 win over Yakima Valley. 

Both Feroah and Fely will be invited to the NWAC Hall of Fame Banquet on May 30 at the Greater Tacoma Convention Center in Tacoma, Washington, where they will be honored and receive their Baden Player of the Year plaques.
