Red Devils Lead From Start to Finish in 74-60 Sweet 16 Win Over Walla Walla

PASCO, Wash. – The Lower Columbia Red Devils led from start to finish as they defeated the Walla Walla Warriors 74-60 in the Sweet 16 of the NWAC Men's Basketball Championship, presented by Golf Universe, on Thursday at Columbia Basin College.

The West Region champion Red Devils (26-3) showed why they finished the season atop the final NWAC Coaches' Poll in an impressive victory over the No. 4 seeded Warriors (17-13). LCC used a dominant post presence with a 48-36 advantage on the boards to create multiple offensive opportunities.

The Red Devils never trailed in the game and led by as many as 19 points late in the first half. The Warriors continued to battle in the second half to try to bring the deficit down to single digits but were unable to string together enough stops defensively. LCC's top defensive unit also limited Walla Walla to just 37 percent from the floor and 3-for-22 from beyond the arc.

Lower Columbia had three scorers in double-digits led by Carter Mccoy's 17 points. David Young had 15 points, seven rebounds and four steals while Kaden Horn added 14 points and six boards. Kobe Parlin had a strong all-around game with eight points, nine rebounds and five assists.

On the Warriors side, Brady Grier had 16 points and 14 rebounds for a double-double. Aidan Fraly came off the bench to score 13 points while Austin Ramos had 11.

The Red Devils move to the NWAC Elite 8 round, where they will face Skagit Valley on Friday at 2 p.m.
