Former Skagit Valley Cardinal standout Kade Mechals drafted by Chicago White Sox

Kade Mechals, former Skagit Valley Cardinal and current pitcher for Grand Canyon University, was drafted in the 4th round by the Chicago White Sox.

Mechals was an All-NWAC pitcher for Skagit in 2018 and a Preseason All-American in 2020 for GCU.

He attended Western Oregon University out of high school where he had a lot of success as a closer for the Wolves. He then chose to chase the Division 1 dream and came to Skagit Valley College as a sophomore.

Mechals flourished at SVC and received multiple D1 offers before committing to Grand Canyon University.

"Both at SVC and GCU, Kade received All-Conference honors and acted as a true leader to those around him, said SVC head coach Shane Servoss . " He is one of the hardest workers and most dedicated players I have been around. He was an amazing leader and teammate in our program. His baseball IQ separates him from the rest and I can't wait to see what he can accomplish at the professional level. Congrats to Kade on his new and exciting chapter to his baseball career!"
