Hurd ran a personal best of 26:26 at the competitive Willamette Invite in Salem. His mark was 55 seconds faster than his previous best as he took 88th place out of 244 runners to finish as one of the top junior college runners.

"Even more impressive about Luke's performance is that he was sick all week," said head coach Sean McLachlan. "Look for Luke to be a major factor the rest of the season."
