Hot 2nd Half Shooting Leads Gators 81-63 against TVCC in Women's Basketball Sweet 16

PASCO, Wash. - The No. 2 Green River Gators (17-10) defeated No. 3 Treasure Valley (21-8) 81-63 in game four of the 2025 NWAC Women's Basketball Championship presented by Golf Universe, on Wednesday at Columbia Basin College.

After trailing by a point 35-34 at halftime with just two three pointers made, the Gators broke out for eight three pointers in the second half to pull away from TVCC late.

Jirah Villanueva was the top scorer for the team, amassing 20 points, including three 3-pointers, and also providing five assists and boards. Aryanna Bull stood out for GRC with a notable performance, contributing 12 points and leading the team with 10 rebounds for a double-double. Jaylah Brown added 18 points to the team's effort, shooting 8-for-18 from the field with four assists. Maija Pollard added 13 points as she went 3-for-5 on three pointers.

GRC trailed the Chukars 16-13 at the end of a back-and-forth first quarter. Treasure Valley led by one point 35-34 at half after Reagan Jones scored a basket with six seconds left.

In the third quarter, GRC outscored TVCC 24-16, building an 11-point lead at one stage. The Gators connected on 10 of 18 field goal attempts, including three of five from beyond the arc, while dominating the paint with 14 points.

GRC secured a strong fourth-quarter performance, outscoring TVCC 23-12 to cement their lead. The Gators shot nine of 17 from the field, including five 3-pointers, while also capitalizing on seven points off turnovers. In total, Green River outscored Treasure Valley 47-28 in the second half, showcasing their ability to adjust and capitalize on opportunities. The Gators made 8 of 13 three-pointers in the second half to earn the double-digit win.

Zoe Archibald stood out for the Chukars with 11 points, 8 assists, and 2 steals. Her performance was highlighted by her shooting efficiency, making five of eight field goal attempts. Reagan Jones was another key player, leading the team with 16 points and contributing eight rebounds as she came off the bench. Lilly Mallory added 11 points, including three 3-pointers, while also grabbing five rebounds. Sophia Legate scored 14 points and provided four assists.

The Gators advance onto the Elite 8 round where they will take on two-time defending champions Lane on Thursday at 4 p.m. The game will be a rematch of the 2023 finals.
