Tacoma's Alex Whiting inks with Western Washington University Men's Soccer

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington University men's soccer head coach Greg Brisbon has announced that forward Alex Whiting, a forward out of Curtis High School and Tacoma Community College, is the latest addition to the Vikings 2019 recruiting class.

Whiting, a 6-0 forward, will be a junior for the Vikings when he makes his debut at Harrington Field in the fall. He is the fourth piece of the WWU men's soccer recruiting class for 2019, joining Sumner High School defender Mitchell Hutter, Whatcom Community College defender Camron Miller and goalkeeper Brandon Locke out of Todd Beamer High School.

In two seasons at Tacoma Community College, Whiting appeared in 42 games, making 39 starts. He scored 10 goals, 18 assists and 38 total points. As a sophomore in 2018, he led the Northwest Athletic Conference with 15 assists and helped lead the Titans to the league championship with a 20-1-2 overall record. Whiting was named the tournament MVP of the NWAC Championships with a goal and two assists.

During his prep career at Curtis High School in University Place, Whiting was a two-time all-state selection including first-team honors as a junior in 2016 when he recorded 10 goals and 13 assists. He was also the 4A SPSL South co-offensive MVP in 2016 and an honorable mention all-state selection as a senior in 2017.

Whiting is a product of the Washington Premier FC club program.
