DUPONT, WA – The Columbia Basin Women Hawks and North Idaho Cardinal Men won the 2019 NWAC Golf Championship at The Home Course in DuPont, Washington today. For the Hawks, it was their second consecutive team championship while the Cardinals claimed their third consecutive title.

Columbia Basin, who finished the regular season in second place behind the Southwestern Oregon Lakers, finished the first round six strokes ahead of Spokane and seven strokes ahead of the Lakers. The Lakers had the best day in the final round, but couldn't make up the ground on the Hawks as CBC finished the tournament with a six stroke lead over the second place Lakers.

Columbia Basin sophomore Breanna Watts won the individual title over Spokane sophomore Shelby Baum by a stroke with Southwestern Oregon sophomore Sarah Skokan taking third, two strokes behind Baum.

The Cardinal Men, who finished second place in the regular season, cruised to the team vicotry outscoring second place and regular season champion Spokane by 14 strokes to finish seven under par.

North Idaho sophomore Braxton Stewart led the way for the Cardinals with a four under par score of 140 followed closely by Grays Harbor sophomore Dylan Christoffer (141) and Spokane freshman Zach Stocker (142).

The team championship was Columbia Basin women's seventh title – their first was in 1993 – while CBC coach Dan Clifford skippered his fourth women's team championship.

The Cardinals – who joined the conference for the 2014-15 season – have claimed three titles – all under the guidance of head coach Russell Grove.

Regular season champion head coach, Ray Fabien of Southwestern Oregon, was named the Women's Coach of the Year while Spokane's Corey Prugh was named the Men's Coach of the Year.
