MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
SEAN MCLACHLAN • SPOKANE
Coach McLachlan led the Spokane men's cross country team to a near perfect finish at the 2019 championship. He had 5 of the top 6 placers in the event to finish with a team score of 19 (15 is a perfect score). The men's XC championship was Spokane's 23rd and their 6th with McLachlan at the helm.
WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
BILL STEYER • LANE
After two consecutive seasons winning the men's cross country title, Coach Steyer captured his first women's title. He had 6 of the top 8 placers to win the championship with a score of 22. The women's XC championship was the fifth in Lane's history.
MEN'S SOCCER
JAKE HUGHES • PENINSULA
Hughes, in his fourth year at the helm guided the Pirates to a North Region Championship (his second) and an 18-1-2 record. After breezing through the first two rounds of playoffs with 7 goals and a pair of clean sheets (no goals against), the Pirates took on top-ranked Tacoma in the championship to a 1-1 score after two overtimes and claimed the school's fifth men's title with a 3-1 win in the shootout. Peninsula was second in the league in goals (64) and tops in fewest goals allowed (11).
WOMEN'S SOCCER
TOM MOORE • HIGHLINE
Moore, who is in his 14th season as head coach at Highline, led the Thunderbirds to their second championship in three years and fourth title appearance in the last five years. The T-Birds finished the season unbeaten with a 17-0-2 record, allowed the fewest goals (6) and were third in scoring (63 goals).
Highline won the championship late in the second overtime over previously unbeaten and defending 2018 champion Peninsula.
VOLLEYBALL
GREG FINEL • PIERCE
After taking over the program in 2016, Finel has taken Pierce College Volleyball from mediocracy to a conference powerhouse. His teams have won the last three West Region Championships highlighted by a third place finish in the championship tourney in 2018 and a title game appearance and a record of 37-4 this season.
