NWAC Mourns passing of inaugural NWAC Executive Director Frank Bosone

Today the NWAC mourns the loss of its first Executive Director, Frank Bosone, who passed away on November 24, 2019. For many years Frank Bosone was a teacher, counselor, college administrator at Bellevue College. After the 78-79 season, a five-member committee from the NWAACC conference selected Bosone as the first Executive Director of the NWAACC. He served from 1978-1992 as Executive Director and oversaw the merger of OCCAA and the NWAACC in 1983.

Bosone excelled as a student-athlete at O'Dea, participating in three varsity sports: basketball (3 years), track (3 years), and baseball (2 years). At the time, Bosone was the O'Dea record holder in the 100, 220, and 440-yard dashes.

After graduation, he accepted a basketball and track scholarship to the University of Portland. As three-year starter for the Pilots basketball team, Bosone was named a Catholic Digest All-American in 1961 and All West-Coast Honorable Mentions in 1960 and 1961. Bosone also held sprint and relay track records at Portland, which went unbroken for 18 years.

After graduation from Portland, Bosone became a basketball referee. During his 35 year career, he officiated over 1,400 division I games, 19 NCAA tournaments and the National Final in 1990.

A successful businessman and community leader, Bosone has been inducted into the O'Dea High School Hall of Fame, the University of Portland Hall of Fame for basketball and track & field and the NWAC Hall of Fame. He was one of the founders of Personal Investment Management Inc., and had been with PIM from 1984 until he retired.

Frank touched the lives of a great many people over the course of his life and career. His professionalism was eclipsed only by the warmth of his personality.  Frank was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, advisor, and friend.  He was caring and sincere and his wisdom and smile will be greatly missed.
