Art Feiro

Art Feiro Academic Excellence Award & Scholarship

The Art Feiro Award is given yearly to the top sophomore male and female scholar athletes in the NWAC. The award is named after the former Dean of Students and Athletic Director at Peninsula College who was the Executive Secretary of the NWAC between 1967-75. He served on the NWAC Executive Board for 16 years. The winners of this award are selected from a pool of Academic Excellence Award recipients.

Presidents Cup

The Presidents Cups are awarded to institutions based on the academic performance of their athletic teams. Points are awarded for student-athletes who complete 36 credits, 72 credits, complete a certificate, and/or degree completion.

Maury Ray

Maury Ray Cup

The NWAC awards its Athletic Director’s Cup (Dr. Maury Ray Cup) to the school that performs the best in each of the conference’s 15 men’s and women’s championships. Points are awarded in order of finish, equal to the number of teams that participate in each sport (i.e. 28 teams the scale would start at 28) and are averaged between a team’s regular season finish and its NWAC championship finish. Teams that do not qualify for a postseason tournament, receive postseason points equal to their regular season finish. Ties are not broken but instead are averaged between the tied teams. Cups will be awarded to winners of two divisions (large schools-8-15 sports offered, small schools 1-7 sports offered).

NATYCAA Cup

The NATYCAA Cup recognizes program excellence in two-year college athletics based on success in championship competition. The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institutions’ finish in up to 10 sports-five for women and five for men championship tournaments.

Red Lion Scholarship Award Winners

At the end of each school year, a Red Lion Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 is awarded to one female and one male student-athlete. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and have completed two years of eligibility in an NWAC sport.
